Strategic Clinical Networks (SCNs). SCNs are networks that bring together groups of people with a common goal of improving quality of care and health outcomes for Albertans. Their overall focus is empowerment; they ensure that patients, families, and communities have a strong voice in prioritizing/planning initiatives though understanding patient experience and how best to address needs.
The Cancer SCN is one of the current 15 SCNs and provincial programs. Its mission is to lead transformation to improve care across the cancer continuum. The Cancer SCN works with a diversity of stakeholders to improve linkages between services and programs, to translate evidence and data into practice, and to enhance care experiences for patients and families, outcomes and system efficiencies.

Rural Wildfire Research Team. Multidisciplinary team that studies the human dimensions of wildfires. In particular, we examine the theoretical framework of community resiliency and its usefulness in understanding how individuals, families and communities respond to the impacts of wildfires. Working together with several rural communities that have experienced wildfires, government agencies and non-government organizations we are generating findings that can lead to appropriate policies and programs.
